It’s one thing to say you’re 40,

but BEING in your 40’s is totally different!

At least it is,

in my mind.

Last year at this time,

I was just trying to keep my head above water.

This year,

Shug is healthy,

we’re happy,

and all is as well as it could be.

I’m blessed to be able to see 41.

It’s just a number……

Shug had his dressing changed yesterday.

He has six incisions.

His tendon transfer was definitely successful.

His foot is standing tall,

in a normal position.

He goes back next Monday to have his stitches removed.

He’ll be in walking boot for a while.

On Thursday he resumes physical therapy for his knee.

Not certain when he’ll start rehabbing his foot.

A lot of that therapy will be training his brain to move his foot.

His doctor said it will take a while to train his brain to move his foot.

He told him that he will get frustrated and question why he did the surgery.

But in the end he will be able to train his brain to move his foot.

I’m doing better today.

My period started early Saturday morning.

Shug and I talked about the lack of PMDD symptoms.

I told him that I want to see my doctor to have blood-work done.

Of course, he wants me to leave it alone.

So I will for now,

especially since the PMDD showed up.

We were eating lunch at Red Robin.

Uncontrollable emotions.

I started crying at the table.

Still don’t know why,

but we left quickly after that.

Went home and took half of the little blue pill.

Took one Sunday too.

I should have taken one yesterday,

but I didn’t.

So yeah,

no question about it.

PMDD is around when I’m menstrual and post-menstrual.

Now that I know that,

watch it change up again.

Oh what a lovely ride……

Mirand Paul Jackson's City

Mirand Paul Jackson's City

Isn’t that the most beautiful city you’ve ever seen?

My God-Daughter Miranda  who is four made it.

She always makes me smile.

I’ve been quiet again.

I had to make some changes.

Only fluff from here on out.

Believe me, I have my reasons.

So here’s what’s happening in my world.

Big Brother had his procedure last Monday.

He’s doing fine, and feeling better already.

Shug & I went to see the Orthopedic Surgeon that will operate on his foot.

He’s having a nerve study performed this afternoon.

The results of which will determine his course of treatment.

More than likely he’ll have a tendon transfer (graphic picture).

I’m okay.

Maybe if I don’t type it, it won’t be real……..

One could only wish it was that easy!

Shug had surgery on Friday.  They were able to successfully reconstruct his knee. His Peroneal Nerve was completely severed. He can wiggle his toes, and point his toes down, but he’s not able to pull his foot forward.  He has Foot Drop.  This is probably permanent damage as they were not able to repair the severed nerve.  In about six months, he’ll have a tendon surgery on his left foot.  This surgery should allow him to regain some function and control in his foot.

He was released from the hospital on Saturday.  We have moved in with my parents.  They are retired and can take care of him during the day.  They took him to have his dressing changed this morning and to his first rehab session.  He’s been up and down emotionally, but he told me last night that he’s ready to fight.  He is in good spirits today and for that I’m thankful.

How am I? Oh, I’m a fucking wreck! I’m already a worrier and now I really have something to worry about.  Our pot is overflowing and I’m prayerful that most if not all of our “Seasoning” is done for the year. Somehow, I get the feeling that we have more drama and intrigue left before this year ends.  We’ll see.  We’re battered, but we’re still standing!

Blown apart!

I don’t have much time, but here’s the deal.  Shug’s knee, for lack of better words, is FUCKED UP!! Not only is his knee dislocated, his ACL, PCL, LCL and Peroneal Nerve are shredded.  His lateral hamstring and his PCL are both pulled completely off the bone.  He’s still in the hospital on IV pain medication.  He is scheduled for reconstructive surgery on Friday.  We’re looking at two months on crutches and a lot of rehab.

Please say a few extra prayers for us.  We need them!
